Interactions with Food, Alcohol & Other Meds

Most food products don’t affect ArmodaXL’s bioavailability, but fatty meals may delay its onset of action. Grapefruit juice & grapefruit may augment the actions or negative effects of armodafinil.

Don’t significantly alter your intake of grapefruit juice while on ArmodaXL, as increasing grapefruit intake may lead to nervousness or irritability. ArmodaXL interacts with the following types of medicines:

• anti-seizure drugs;
• monoamine oxidase inhibitors;
• certain antibiotics;
• blood thinners;
• CYP3A4/5 & CYP2C19 substrates;
• certain antifungal drugs;
• birth control medicines.

Always let your medic know about all the meds you are using to assess if they cause interaction with ArmodaXL. Furthermore, the med is contraindicated in patients & elderly individuals with the below-listed conditions. If you must use the med, start therapy with a lower dose & under medical control:

• allergy to armodafinil & modafinil;
• cardiovascular disease;
• mental disorders;
• high blood pressure;
• hepatic or renal failure;
• alcohol or drug abuse.

Also, lessen the consumption of beverages that contain caffeine like tea, cola, and coffee while on ArmodaXL. Reduce alcohol intake during therapy, as booze may interact with the drug’s main component in a way that heightens its negative effects.
